Online Lodging Directories
There are now hundreds of lodging directories looking in which to invest advertising dollars. Destination directories and travel resources are frequently visited by potential guests searching for lodging.  The more of these directories that list your inn, the better chance you have of getting your selling message to the guest that is seeking lodging in your area.  It is extremely important that you list your property in as many of the free ones you can find, but also invest in a few of the subscription-based directories.

The top online directories are a good return on investment dollars, but innkeepers should not purchase listings at online directories unless they include a link that will take guests directly to their personal Web sites. Top directories are subject to change rapidly on the Internet, innkeepers need to learn how to determine exactly which directories will bring them the best return on investment. One way to make this determination is to type in the name of your city, state and the words “bed and breakfast” on Google or Yahoo.  Then, see which lodging directories rank the highest for your area.
